Hello their, well all my kiddos and my hubby are sound asleep and I’m wide awake. It’s been a wonderful Christmas Day, Filled with laughter, kids enjoying their gifts and spending the day with Family was so much fun. Hope you had an Amazing Christmas Day!

Now we get to start thinking about New Years Eve and all the wonderful ideas we can come up with for our families to do together.

There are so many options out their but the best ones are when we ask ourselves “What would my Family want to do together? or What would be the most fun thing to do as a Family?”

Here are some of our Families Ideas we like to do New Years and throughout the year for different occasions.

Have a Party! Now this can be done a few different ways: Here are some options:

1. If you have young children – In the designated Room your having your family party decorate for a New Years Party, be creative and make them Fun and loud since its New Years lol.

Sit up an area within the room that’s also decorated, that the kids can do games, color and have fun with you at their level.

Have food, snacks and drinks sit up at a station for everyone to enjoy throughout the party.

Play games, such as bingo, dancing, photo booth “for their age” dress up and have fun taking pictures. Balloon game, take 12 balloons write 1-12 on them and put them on the wall or a board like a clock and have the child pop one every hour till the New Year.

Make New Years bags for everyone, fill with hat, blow horn, noise-maker, you can put whatever you may think of inside of it.

On the front of the bag write New Years 2020 and a count down according to the amount of hours you will be allowing your child to stay up.

You can say that at 10:00pm you can open your bag and take the hat out then at 11:00pm they can get their horn out and finally at 12:00am get the noise-maker out and go wild!

You can also have a Balloon drop at midnight for the family or fireworks.

If children have a hard time staying up that late, some parents will watch the ball dropped in New York from the year before with them so they can have the experience and still get their rest.

2. For Preteens or teens – You can have the family party plus let the kids invite some friends to the party. Decorate with shiny New Years decor., set up a photo booth for their age with lots of props, dance, sing karaoke, make new year resolutions.

You can have new years hats, masks, ect… put out on a dressed up table. Lots of food and drinks. Maybe even some fireworks.

This one is always a fun time together. We make sausage balls, cheese dip and chips, ham or steak sliders and spinach dip. We enjoy playing cards together, Card games like Spades, Rummy and Uno are just a few.

Board games, Sorry, Monopoly, Chess and Checkers. These nights are always filled with laughter and Fun! I can get ill if I’m not winning lol. Set an alarm for a few minutes before midnight to celebrate the New Year together.

We usually do this one as a family but you could invite friends its your call. It’s fun to buy the whole family matching Pajamas but you don’t have to:)

Needless to say everyone wears their PJ’s and we fix popcorn, of course different types some like plain, with butter and with cheese.

Then get throws or blankets for all to put at where their planning on sitting to save their seat. Everyone gets a bowl of popcorn, candy and a drink.

Then choose 2 or 3 movies to watch together and Enjoy while the clock is ticking down to midnight.

Decorate like a Party would be done for New Years, have the New Year hats, blow horns,,, On a table have a case, jar or some type of box that will seal off. This will be the Time Capsule station.

Print off the New Years Resolution sheet and the Time capsule sheet enough for each person at the party. Place on the Capsule station. Put a Balloon drop up with lots of balloons and at midnight let it go.

Have an Appetizers station, Drink station, Desert station set up, with the drinks you could have plastic champagne glasses.

Play music for dancing, talking, and at the right time get everyone to write down their New Years Resolution on the sheet provided and fill out their Time capsule sheet, then put in capsule that you have displayed at its own station.

Write the date on the Time Capsule and the date also to not be open until. Then you can either bury it or make a place for it to be displayed .

This is a really fun Party, You can ask guest to dress up or have a theme or just come hang out. It might just be a Family Time Capsule, either way, Have Fun with it!

Sit up Party foods and decorations for this also.

You gather at Church for a time of Celebrating and Singing to God, some people have these in there homes also.

This type of celebration is Thanking God for bringing us through and taking care of All our family and friends in 2019 and All the Blessings He has given us this year….

Then at 11:45pm You All Pray the New Year 2020 In.

Share your ideas you have to bring in the New Year with us.

  5. Hello. Thanks a lot for sharing with us such awesome ideas.

I spent this Christmas with my family. I can say that it was the most beautiful Christmas because it was the first Christmas with our boy (he is 11 months old). For New Year’s Eve we will go to our cousins and there will be many children. You gave me a very good idea. We will decorate the children’s room with different drawings and games for each child. I can’t wait to spend this time with them and start the year very happy and with big plans for 2020.

Wish you a Happy New Year. Good luck!

    1. It’s so exciting watching an 11 month old at Christmas, those are wonderful memories you’ve made. So glad you can use some of the ideas for New Years Eve 🙂 Thank you for commenting! Have a Wonderful 2020.

  6. Hi Renea,

Thanks a lot for the wonderful ideas.

    To share our schedule…

On 31st of December at 9.30 pm we will go to our Church. From 10 pm to 11.45 pm we will be giving thanks to our LORD for the current year (2019 thanks giving service). We will enter the new year with prayer and thanks giving and till 4 am we will attend the new year service.

Many church members will be on fasting so we will provide food in the early morning to everyone. We will reach our home around 5 am on first of January. That’s our schedule on every new year eve.

Indeed, 2020 is going to be great and I am preparing my 2020 goals and I am really excited about it.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year!

    1. I Love your schedule for New Years Eve, that is the best way to bring in the New Year! We use to have New Years Eve services at our Church and I Loved them, so glad ya’ll still have them. Thank you so much for your comments!!

Blessings to you and a Happy New Year!!

  7. Wow this site is immersive. I thought I could get lost in the content at some times. Traveling is something that I want to do more of. You seem to be well-traveled. Continue making memories wit your loved ones. I also like your review on the Visio 55”. My dad was looking to buy a new TV for his exercise room. I’d gladly refer him to this site.

    1. Thank you for exploring the site, your welcome to come back anytime. Hope your Dad stops by and if there’s anything I can help with, just ask:)

Blessings to you and a Happy New Year!

  8. Fantastic family ideas for New Year’s Eve, but many of your ideas would be great family time activities all year-round.

Families don’t put enough effort to have regular family time, and this could be one reason so many teens are getting into trouble.

    Thank You

    1. Yes, I believe your right. If families would spend more time together hanging out and doing things together, teens would not have a reason to go and get into things they shouldn’t. Thank you for your comments.

      Blessings to you,

  9. Great ideas! My daughters mom will be going out for New years so it will be just me and My 3 year old. I was just thinking of ideas the other day and drew a blank! This came in handy right on time!

I think we’re going to do a pajama party/sleep over! thanks again!

    1. Ya’ll will have so much fun!:) PJ party’s are the best, especially with your kids. You can even do some dance time and coloring together, they love that at her age. Thank you for commenting!

      Blessings and Happy New Year!

  10. Hey I love the Time Capsule/ Resolution Night idea, I will use this one at my New Year’s Eve party.

Do you have any recipes for a good New Year’s Eve beverage for a party?

  11. Hello there. It’s exciting to see you share these exciting family ideas for new year eve and beyond. These family ideas are truly on point; it would bond the family together, bring lot of excitement and fun. I love the idea of family party and resolution night. Especially the resolution night. We can help each other stay on point on our resolution…

    1. Thank you so much for your comments! Yes, bringing the family together should be priority.

Blessings to you and Have a Great New Year,

  12. Hiya Renea

I really enjoyed your article, you’ve given me lots of brilliant ideas for things to do on New Year’s Eve. I have DVD’s, popcorn and fizzy juice for my cubs and nibbly snacky things. I like the time capsule idea, not so sure about the hourly balloon popping (my wee ones might not like the noise).

I like the sound of everyone writing down goals for the year ahead to be opened the following NYE. I am half Spanish so we celebrate the tradition in our house of eating grapes as the bells sound (1 for each chime, try saying Happy New Year with 12 grapes in your mouth, lol)

Are there any special New Year traditions in US?

I hope you have a great NYE and New Year, thank you for helping mine go with a bang, krs PurpleLioness

    1. Thank you so much for commenting!! Lol 🙂 you had me laughing. One of our traditions is going to the Church and Singing and Praying the New Year in, and another one is watching the Ball fall in New York on television.

Blessings to you and Have a Great New Year,

  13. I love the Time Capsule/Resolution idea, it is so exciting when you open it and see what resolutions everyone made and if they happened or not. 🙂 Thank you for commenting!

I do have a recipe for a great beverage it’s:

    Blackcherry Pineapple Punch
    1 large can Pineapple Juice
    4 packets Blackcherry coolaid
    3 cups Sugar
    1 pineapple can of Water
Mix all together and stir well, put in refrigerator to chill or you can put in freezer to slush
    * make double batch for more

    Blessings and Happy New Year!
