Vacations / Ideas for Families and Couples

Our Family - Anna Marie Island, Fl

Vacations, what can I say about them? They can be some of the best times in our lives or some of the most stressful times in our lives. Whether you’re going on a family vacation or a couples vacation planning is key to having a stress free time, and that is our main goal today. We have got to just make it happen.:) So let’s take a look at some ideas that can help make any vacation a Fun Time for All!!

Ideas for Families

First you need to get a pen a travel planner or note book to write down ideas or plans. I’m going to use my family as an example, there are five of us in our family so the First thing to do is have a family meeting to discuss your vacation. Where you would want to go, when you can go and what your budget is. Now we always have different vacation destinations thrown out there and I write down the top two or if by chance we have a winner the top one. Yay! We usually choose the date by my husbands vacation work time, and my husband and I have already discussed the budget and made it. Now the Second thing to do will be to Look at your destinations and the dates you can go and see which one is available on the dates that you need. I always look back and forth between sites to get the best price and best amenities available, while making sure it’s in our budget. One thing i have learned is the better the amenities the more fun your kids and you will have. Always remember all the expenses of going out all the time, when you have plenty for your kids to do right there, takes away from your relaxation. It’s a win, win situation.:) There will be plenty of time to explore if you plan your days for it. We love resorts they offer everything a family needs to have a fun, relaxing adventure.

Couples

There are a lot of vacation destinations for couples just depends on where you want to go. My husband and I always like to getaway to relaxing places with beautiful scenery. For our 20th Wedding Anniversary we went to Missouri. It was so Beautiful, as far as you could see on our drive there was flat land and we were not used to that. We chose to go exploring after we got settled in and saw some amazing sites, not having the kids with us made it much easier to be more free to take our time and explore while having so much fun together. On our 25th Anniversary we went to Panama City Beach, Florida. I love the ocean just hearing the sounds of the waves is so relaxing and walking with the sand between your toes is so refreshing. We had an amazing trip that Anniversary just relaxing and enjoying the resort while seeing some sites.:) Most recently we had our 30th Wedding Anniversary:) we went to Fairfield Glade Tennessee. I chose this location because it would be a laid back resort with all the amenities and Beautiful surroundings for us to enjoy our week together. The main point I want Couples to know, Is Your time together is precious don’t take it for granted, slow down and enjoy each other, go places just for the fun of it not because you have to but because you want to. Guess what I want to say is slow down and Love each other, don’t be in a hurry, after all your on vacation. You make the schedule, Enjoy Life.

Preparing for your Trip

When preparing for your vacation always remember to plan your budget. Decide on the destination and dates then look for the best deals and compare what is best for your families needs, remember to check for what kind of amenities each location has or if there are any extra fees also check for washer/dryer in the unit or at a close location. My husband always likes to know so we can pack lighter and wash clothes if needed, he also likes to make sure All clothes are washed and clean before we leave to head home:) that always makes it easier when we get home. Once you’ve found your destination, book your reservations and arrange for the transportation, whether it’s booking airline or train tickets or you may be driving your car which then you’ll need to be sure your car is road worthy for the trip.

  1. This topic is a very important one especially for those with a fairly big family. Like my family, we had a very stressful last vacation ad this was totally due to bad preparation. This is the first time i am visiting your site but i think that this is a very helpful one for me. I feel we are ignorant of not researching that place where we want to go to before going there. Thank you for giving me this tip to use for our next vacation. I will put in mind, all those tips on parking.

But to be honest, the information you shared here has really made planning much more easier especially when it is a vacation for the family. This is really great. 3. Hello,

Thank you for this great post!

We try to get away at least once per year.  Sometimes it’s just a quick camping trip and others, a two-week sailing vacation aboard a catamaran.  Either way, we look forward to them.

I can’t recall a trip where I didn’t forget something or simply never considered it at all.  I really appreciate your packing list here.  I think it will help save me from myself in the future.

    Thanks again,

    Scott

    • Thank you for you comment! I hope the list helps. Enjoy all of your adventures:)

  4. Its very true that Family vacations can be the most amazing moments of our lives and to be sincere, since I was young I always anticipate vacation time for the family and up till now, I can’t afford my family missing a year’s vacation. My wife actually does the destination thing, our daughters are still very young so it’s only the two of us that decides on where to go and when. Packing is the most stressful part of a vacation for me, and I always try as much as possible to get a list like you’ve done in this article in order not to forget anything. This article is really interesting and I’ve gained a lot from it.

    • Thank you for your comment! My husband and I remember how hard it was when our children where young but those are some of the best times and memories to cherish. One thing that helps is making a list of everything ya’ll will need and start working on that list slowing about 2 weeks before the trip, 3 if there is a lot of big items on your list to do. Just remember if you forget something it’s ok, you can either do without it or go to the store and pick up a replacement, Your there to make great memories with your family. Enjoy!

  5. Totally agree, Renea.

Vacations are always a good idea whether it takes one to an exotic place, your favourite beach or just loading up the trailer and heading to a favourite camping spot… something my wife and I like to do even more now that we are retired.

Finding new places to visit is a great way to create memories with the family or just the two of you to enjoy time together.

Next year we will celebrate our 25 anniversary and I can think of nothing better than planning a trip together in our trailer to places we would like to see even in our own province and country.

Your ideas for preparing and packing are spot on.  Lists are important as well as budgeting, listing what you want to see and/or do and planning should start months in advance.

Because we like to camp we start the beginning stages of planning about 4 weeks ahead of when we leave.  We book where we are going about 60 ahead.  How far ahead would you start planning for a vacation?

    • You are so right, that list is so important, it keeps you on track. I book our trips at different times, like for our recent Anniversary trip we found a great deal for a week and booked it 30 days ahead. Our up coming trip this coming summer I booked this past June, because I found such a good deal for the week we needed. Thank you for your comments:)
